Let me appease the Christmas spirit! I must first say Christmas is Bonnie's and my favorite time of year. The earlier the better! Yes, we have already set out the decorations and as I look out the window yes, it has already started snowing. Come to think of it... I remember as a kid snow started falling in September/October and it seems as if there was a lot more of it (perhaps a little disheartening when you consider global warming). It is a good point towards the doves. I'm not sure what the intentionality is behind it. If I were to guess though I would imagine it has more to do with the spirit of "Peace and Good will towards ALL men." ("humanity" for those of you who rely on politically correct vernacular). All things aside, I agree with you in the sense that "Christmas" does seem to be starting earlier and earlier. But, what is starting earlier? Christmas? Or the creeping spirit of consumeristic idolatry? I shutter as the latter gags my throat every time I enter a shopping mall or hear someone talk about their "wish list"! What happened to the SPIRIT of Christmas?! Perhaps, that is where Bonnie & I find our excitement... continually focusing and being drawn towards the Spirit and Spirituality of the Christmas Season!
