You’re just weird

Do you have any habits or idiosyncrasies  that would make people think “you’re kind of weird?”?  * btw I think “idiosyncrasies” is the biggest word I’ve used this week … maybe this month.  On second thought – ever! *

Here are a couple of mine;

  • When I navigate a website I always have to have the edge of my cursor arrow aligned with the edge of the page.  If I can’t do this I naturally find the side of a square and align it with that.  It drives me crazy when the cursor is sitting anywhere on the page.
  • In my journal I have to use the same pen to write with.  There is nothing more annoying than flipping through pages of the past and see different colour writing – I’m not a 13 year old girl who likes to write each note using purple, pink, blue, red and greeen.  I’m strictly a black pen kind of guy.
  • When I speak on stage I HAVE to have everysingle word written out in manuscript form.  If I don’t then I am secretly stressed out.  It makes the preperation process very long but it keeps me mostly on topic (I say mostly because there are times that I vear from my notes and say the dumbest things!)
  • This may not be considered to be a habit or and idiosyncrasy (*I just wanted to use that word one more time)  but when I sit in a coffee shop I love listening to other peoples conversations.   It’s even crossed my mind  to buy one of those hearing aids for seniors that look like a bluetooth adaptor just to be able to listen more closely to what’s being said.

There you have it.  I’d ask the question “what about you?” but since my mother is at my house and we don’t have access to our computer right now (It might have died) the only person reading this blog is computerless :-)   O.K. I might be exxagerating b/c i know there are other people reading my blog but I really feel sorry for people who facebook questions on their status and nobody answers them!

umm…I guess one of mine may be spelling.

ps – idiosyncracies is the correct spelling

    haha – love you

  2. Tyson Says:

    oops. now that’s funny.

I didn’t even spell it right – idiosyncrasies

  3. brad Says:

Yes, you’re right. I actually spell checked it and then typed it wrong. Now I’m editing it.

  4. Dixie Says:

As I was doing this this morning, I thought, “I need to admit this on Facebook or my blog or something”: I comb my eyelashes every morning. (With the comb side of one of those brushes you use to comb your eyebrows, not like a big comb for your head…) I really have to do it or I feel funny.

And I also think it’s funny that I put up a question on Facebook last week and nobody answered it. It was a good one too: why is it so much fun to buy things?

Anyway… just so you know I’m still reading here. :)

    1. I always tap the top of a can twice with my index finger before opening it. (It really bugs Dixie and my brother)

    2. I can’t think of another one.

I write out my sermons in manuscript form as well. I usually embolden some key words or phrases. I dream of one day ignoring my notes altogether during a sermon.

Do you read the manuscript, or just refer to it?

    • Rina Says:

      I’ll answer Marc’s question Brad.

Brad sometimes reads from the manuscript, but usually he jumps around. Somehow though, it all comes together in a very thought-provoking way that always leaves me thinking he wrote it JUST for me.

I have more fun reading the stuff that is in the manuscript, but he DOESN’T say. I know, I know too much!

Ha! I love this post. I am so weird – and I love that other people are, I think it makes us all unique.

I wish the extent of my weirdness was my pet peeve of spelling errors…and for the sake of keeping friendships, I won’t reveal my many weirdnesses here. :)

    1.) i blog too much.
Actually, it makes me feel a little less weird that you blog – but there’s always a niggling feeling that it’s really a sort of silly thing to do…
2.) i can’t wear nailpolish because my nails feel claustrophobic.
& 3.) (this one isn’t me, it’s neil, but you really should know this….) Neil hates the word “perm” and the phrase, “git ‘er done” – if you say either one while he’s at the table, he will get up & leave.

    • Lori-Dawn Says:

first I got to say, Paige does NOT blog too much and I really think it’s sad that she takes the weekends off a lot of the time…also, I can’t do the nailpolish thing either because of the claustrophobic thing…I don’t wear makeup for this reason as well…good thing my husband likes au naturale!
I take about 1/2 an hour to eat a small christmas orange…peeling ALL the white stuff off…drives Jamie (my husband) completely bonkers…
and I absolutely HATE the phrase, “keep on keeping on” there is just no hope in that phrase and it is used SO much in my homeschool world…sigh…

  8. Ben Says:

    1. I turn off the lights in the same order in our house every night and check each door to be locked at least twice before I go to sleep.
    2. I don’t believe anything on the weather channel, but I can’t get to sleep until I see the forecast for tomorrow.
    3. I tap each card that I’m dealt before I’ll pick it up in any card game.
    4. I get sweats when the data connection goes out on my PDA.
    5. I’m a dyed in the wool Microsoft guy, but I secretly lust for an iPhone.

The OCD only continues on from here, but suffice it to say I’m at least at peace with myself although it may drive some others crazy. Rest happily in the knowledge that you’re far from the weirdest amongst us Brad.
